For its 75th anniversary cover, Esquire magazine was looking for a museum-worthy cover that would reflect and embrace today's digital age. According to David Granger, Esquire's editor in chief, "Magazines have basically looked the same for 150 years. I have been frustrated with the lack of forward movement in the magazine industry." To pull it off, the magazine tapped E Ink and Structural Graphics. The result was a cover featuring words and images displayed using electronic paper. According to Granger, this cover is "a very literal representation of our theme: 'The 21st Century Begins Now.'"
