Solution of the Week: Iggesund Paperboard 2019 Holiday Card

Wednesday, January 8, 2020

Run Time: 1:50

Every year, Iggesund Paperboard selects a paper artist from around the world to design their annual holiday greeting card. This year, we were fortunate to have been selected to create a unique design that utilized different printing techniques, including fine laser cut details.

The theme of this year’s holiday card was specific to the origin of Iggesund’s flagship product, Invercote, as well as the important role that sustainable forestry and fibre-based products can play in mitigating climate change. To showcase this, we designed a magical winter forest scene that comes to life in a dimensional shadowbox. By scanning the QR code on the bottom of the card, a light display appears on one’s mobile device. Placed on top of the mobile device, the shadowbox displays a light show that mimics the magical illumination of the aurora borealis.

Invercote Creato 18 pt. was the perfect choice for this project because of its ability to withstand the high demands of dimensional paper engineering, as well as various print treatments including laser cutting.

Iggesund’s Customer Experience Manager shared that each year they hope their holiday card is attention-getting enough that it will be proudly displayed on the recipient’s desk. This holiday card served as a representation of their value for the long-lasting relationships they have with their customers. Structural Graphics was so proud to have worked on this meaningful project.
